Kids Friendsgiving Camp
1 Day Thanksgiving Camp! Join us Tuesday Nov 26th for a kids Friendsgiving full of art, skits, games, and of course- delicious food! All day and half day options available.
Afternoon and all day campers should bring their lunch, but we will also have traditional (and not) Thanksgiving foods available for students to try as we talk about the traditions that made Thanksgiving. Please let us know if your child has a food allergy.

13th Annual Turkey Trot - The Turkey Trot is an annual family friendly event. The registration for the event is now live! There is a kid's fun run, 5k and 10k leaving options for every runner (or walker). Create a team with your family and friends.

Ornament Workshop
Begin the holiday season with the Bush Family Home 1st Ornament Workshop on December 7th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This is a free come-and-go event that is great for families to come and make a gingerbread man for the Christmas Tree. Refreshments will be served.
If families desire, they can take a tour for regular admission of the Bush family home and see it decorated for the holidays. One special decoration will be a re-creation of the fireplace mantel as it was in 1953 just after Robin Bush passed away of leukemia. Visitors will feel the emotion the Bushes felt during that 1stChristmas without their daughter.
Kids Reading to Kids
Join us for another Kids Reading to Kids event on Saturday, December 7th at 3pm. I know what you're thinking, and yes, that is the same day as our ornament workshop at 1pm. Take part in them both to really get into the holiday spirit! This time, our reader will be Anna Frates. Anna will be reading three books that are great for the spirit of the season, “How to Catch an Elf” by Adam Wallace & Andy Elkerton, “How to Catch Santa Claus” by Alice Walstead & Andy Elkerton, and “How to Catch a Snowman” by Adam Wallace & Andy Elkerton. Some of Anna's favorite books are The Eighth Day, Goosebumps, and The Unteachables. She also likes to dance, play games, and play with her sisters. She goes to school at the Stem Academy, and her favorite subjects are math and engineering. She is interested in doing this program because she wants to support her community. Some fun facts about Anna are that she knows how to play flute, she's learning how to play piano, and she has a pet cat.

Playtime at The Playa: How Animals Prepare
A part of the WILD at The Preserve outdoor education program -PLAYTIME AT THE PLAYA- is free to the community! All you have to do is reserve your spot(s) using the ticket link.
We encourage families to take advantage of this unique opportunity to immerse their children in the wonders of nature. The benefits of outdoor play and education are immeasurable, fostering not only a deeper connection to the environment but also promoting physical, social, and cognitive development. By participating in Playtime at the Playa, children can cultivate a sense of curiosity and stewardship toward the natural world around them.
Our sessions are thoughtfully designed to be inclusive and engaging for all participants. The hands-on activities and interactive lessons make learning fun and memorable, ensuring that each child leaves with a greater appreciation for the outdoors. Whether it’s through a captivating story during our storytime circles or the tactile exploration provided by our sensory bins, every moment is crafted to inspire and educate. These open play sessions provide WILD at The Preserve activities and an opportunity to build your network among outdoor enthusiasts and those passionate about play-based learning. Caregivers will accompany learners to engage in play, education, and discovery! The educational materials and activities are developed for learners ages 2-7, with the potential to be adapted for other ages. This session is based on the WILD at The Preserve lesson called Terrific Trees which teaches us that trees provide essential resources for wild animals, such as food, shelter, space, and water.
For those who wish to continue the journey beyond Playtime at the Playa, WILD at The Preserve offers a variety of classes throughout the year. These classes delve deeper into the environmental concepts unique to our region, allowing for ongoing engagement and learning. We are dedicated to nurturing a lifelong love of nature in our learners, and we are thrilled to have you join us on this adventure. WILD at the Preserve is an outdoor class series where learners experience nature in the early years of life. Our curriculum is based on Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Project Wild. Parents and caregivers accompany their children during each class as the program explores and introduces environmental concepts of West Texas, and beyond. Rostered classes have limited availability. Grab your library card and cozy up for a fun storytime at the Durham children's museum with your friends, followed by a visit to the bookmobile!
Get up and dance like a turkey with the featured turkey stuffed animal puppet! Gobble and wobble—then spin yourself around! Next, you'll be asked to reach down and touch the ground. Spread your wings and hop and flap, just like turkeys do. Introduce your children and their little friends to the Thanksgiving holiday by reading the sweet Gobble Wobblerhyming story. Wiggle the plush turkey puppet to make it dance along with you! Fun fall entertainment!
Messy Masterpieces- Turkey Hands🦃
Looking for a fun, creative time for your child? Sign them up to come paint this awesome painting with us. Our fun instructor will guide your mini-picasso step-by-step in creating their masterpiece and help when needed! They will begin to learn brush techniques, and how to use a variety of art materials in our fun and encouraging painting environment. Colors options will be availabe so that your little one can personalize their painting. Our only goal is for your child to leave with paintings that they had a fun time creating!
Feel free to bring food and/or drinks along with you to make your experience more fun!

Although we'll be accepting toy donations through December 13th, we'd love for y'all to come to our FREE Cocoa & Cookies with Santa on Saturday, November 16th, 10am-noon, at the Rockhounds Stadium. We'll be collecting toys at this event!

Kids Night Out - Parents Night Off!
I bet you could use a night out. How about a night out without the kids? Enjoy a night out on the town with peace of mind that your kids are having fun at Kids Night Out at The Studio. KNO gives your children ages 4 to 14 a chance to get out of the house, and off their devices to have some fun with other kids. Each KNO will feature painting, games, crafts, and a slime bar. Pizza can be purchased for $5 at the front desk or you may pack your child a dinner. Drop off @ 6:00pm. Pick-up @ 9:00pm. Dress for a mess please! We do our best to keep your kids clean but we do make messes so you don't have to! Play clothes are best.
